On that eventful day, the 2ND Dec. 2009, I was riding a bike. Here I should tell you on that day I just got up from bed after treating for fever and was feeling a sort of weakness all over. My wife, Asra, before she left for her job, warned me to be at home because she knows about me that I can't keep quite sitting at home doing nothing. Of course sometimes I do write poetry (in Urdu) when I am alone. But that day ???? That's why I said in the beginning “on that eventful day"

It so happened, after my wife left for work I was just browsing for something on the net and I heard a strange sound and finally figured it out that it was my mobile which was ringing. (My son has a habit of changing crazy kind of ring tones every now and then). The caller happened to be my X- worker and he has requested for some money, at that point of time I had no extra money to spare. Hence I asked him to call me in the evening. After some time I gave a thought and decided to go to one of my clients, get some money and help this fellow.

The journey started at 1 pm, the destination was 30 km. away and the sun was merciless. I started my bike, here I tell you that my wife was not aware of this adventure of mine. After about 5 km. I felt a kind of giddiness I stopped for some time, gave myself time for a smoke and started again. After that I remember covering some distance and then?????

When I became half conscious I could feebly hear some voices - "Poor guy I don't think he will survive - Somebody get some water - Has some one called the Ambulance ? - Don’t wait for Ambulance he is bleeding". Again I went back in to darkness and after sometime I woke up to find out that I was being handled ruthlessly by the ambulance staff. The police men were asking me to give some contact phone number, this is where I hated the evolution of the mobile phones, because we keep every contact in the memory and at times of desperation we don’t remember even the numbers of our dear ones. I asked for my mobile and to my painful surprise they said they did not find any mobile at the accident spot. Then I gave them the details of place where my wife works.

By the sound of siren I realized that I am being shifted to the Hospital. I requested the ambulance staff to shift me to my family doctor Dr. Sudhan's COSH hospital, Tambaram , which they refused and asked me to shut my mouth (I am not repeating the same words which they pronounced as it wouldn’t be decent I guess!) and told me that they know where to take me. Finally they took me to KMC, there I felt the doctors were a bit reluctant to attend for the reasons better known to them. In un bearable pain, I requested them to shift me to COSH, they took this statement of mine to their advantage and pushed the stretcher out in to the corridor and simply ignored me. I was feeling drowsy and darkness started creeping in my eyes for a movement I thought that’s the end of it and within myself I started reciting some verses of Quran. Suddenly I felt a hand touching me; with great effort I pierced through the darkness to see the most woderfull creation of God – "ASRA".
Next day when I opened my eyes I saw my favorite doctor, Dr. Sudhan who is ever smiling and jovial , told me that he had to do some carpentry and plumbing work on my right Knee joint and femur. Some rods, plates and few screws were fixed I suppose – Jokes apart it seems I underwent a major surgery which took 7 long hours with the risk of 40:60 three surgeons two anesthetists operated and 6 units of blood was given to me .

Then they shifted me to my room from ICU where I found lots of fruits, biscuits, flowers and among them I saw Asra with an ear to ear smile. -Sayed.

  2. emotional out busts erupt once in life time at the end of hope and at the beginning of humility. Gratitude is like Insurance it has to be renewed
at equal installments. (Khaleel Gibran.). Make your life happy and satisfying in a new way, let your talents shine and surprise others.
